What is the mission of the symbolic e-shop Skutočný darček (Real Gift)?

By donating in our e-shop, you can help people in need. The non-profit organization People in Peril uses donations to provide assistance to people in difficult circumstances, for example in the form of food, education, new skills, or direct aid. We can send you a certificate for your Real Gift. By donating, you and your loved ones will also feel good about giving a meaningful gift.

 

What is an electronic certificate?

If you choose to send an electronic certificate with your Real Gift donation, we will send a link to download the gift certificate in PDF format to the email address provided during the donation process.

 

When I donate to a school blackboard, will my money actually buy a new blackboard for a classroom?

Most likely yes, but it may happen that some other school supplies, such as textbooks or pencils, are more needed at that moment, so we will purchase what is more necessary. Money donated through this certificate will always be used within the Education program. The items on the certificates actually describe what we often purchase in the countries where we provide assistance. At the same time, however, we use the donated funds as purposefully and effectively as possible, so it may happen that your donations will be used to purchase a different item, but always from the same category of assistance.Top of Form

 

How will the funds donated through Real Gifts be used?

If you donate a Real Gift such as Seedlings, for example, the money goes to the Livelihoods program. Through this program, we improve the chances of families and communities to improve their livelihoods in the long term. This may involve purchasing agricultural tools or providing seedlings for the first harvest. We purchase the necessary items directly in the country where we are providing assistance. This eliminates high transportation costs and supports the local market. The goal is to enable the recipients to escape from poor conditions and obtain long-term sustainable means of livelihood.

 

Why exactly HELP IN NEED, EDUCATION, LIVELIHOOD, and SLOVAKIA?

All areas of assistance are related to the priorities and activities of our organization, People in Peril. The first three are related to humanitarian and development aid. Many people are threatened by the consequences of war or natural disasters. We help them secure basic necessities so that they can start living a dignified life again. We also believe that support for education, qualified teachers, and sufficient schools are an opportunity for children to escape poverty. Livelihood means economic self-sufficiency, enabling people to find work and earn a living. At the same time, we realize that we also have many social problems at home in Slovakia. As part of the Slovakia program, we support children and families from marginalized communities.

 

How long does it take to deliver a certificate for a Real Gift?

The speed of delivery of a certificate for a Real Gift depends on the method of payment for the gift and the option you choose.  We send electronic certificates immediately after processing your gift in our system. We try to send printed certificates or prepare them for personal pickup as soon as possible after the gift payment is recorded in our account.

 

Will I receive any feedback on how the gift is used?

Yes, we strive to be transparent and provide you with as much information as possible.  We will inform all donors about the use of their donation by email, phone, newsletter, or a combination of these. If you are interested in further information, please contact us at darcek@clovekvohrozeni.sk.

 

Is there another way I can support the idea of Real Gifts?

We would be delighted if you told your friends and family about our project or shared information on social media.

 

Can I send gifts to people in need in other ways than through Real Gifts?

You can help in other ways than through Real Gifts. You can easily support the activities of People in Peril with a one-time or regular donation using the donation form on our website. With regular payments, you will become a member of our regular donors' club - The Friends Club.

What is the charity e-shop skutocnydarcek.sk?

The charity e-shop Skutočný darček (Real Gift) is a donation portal in the form of a symbolic e-shop. Through donations from Skutočný darček, Človek v ohrození, n.o. (People in Peril) fulfills its mission and vision; it is a source of funding for the non-profit organization's charitable activities. At the same time, it serves to spread awareness and the idea of solidarity through the simple idea of giving a specific gift.

By adding a gift to a symbolic shopping cart, the donor can choose the area in which they want to help. By placing an order, the donor sends a gift to the non-profit organization People in Peril, which then uses this gift to help people in need. Real Gift does not issue invoices; donations are made by concluding a donation agreement. The names "basket," "order," and "billing address" are part of the preset e-shop template. These are symbolic names that guide the donor through the donation process.

 

How does People in Peril manage its finances?

Our non-profit organization is committed to complete transparency. That is why we have an independent audit carried out every year.
