How it works

By donating a Real Gift through the charity e-shop of People in Peril, you will help people in difficult situations. Thanks to your generosity, we provide essential items to victims of natural disasters and wars, improve children’s access to education, and support small farmers and artisans in poor countries. In Slovakia, we work with families and children from marginalized communities facing generational poverty. You can also receive a gift certificate for your Real Gift and share the joy of helping others with your loved ones.
The Skutočný darček charity e-shop is an innovative way to donate aid. Every gift you add to your symbolic shopping cart will be used to help people in need within the selected category according to their current needs.
AREAS WHERE REAL GIFTS MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Real Gifts always represent a specific form of aid – whether seedlings for a poor family in Africa, school supplies for children in developing countries, or tutoring for children from marginalized communities in Slovakia.
Real Gifts are divided into four categories. The names of the gifts are symbolic to better illustrate the type of help provided. If you choose the Real Gift Blackboard for school, we will most likely provide a blackboard. However, it may happen that the school currently needs different teaching tools – a printer, desks and chairs, or textbooks. In that case, we will provide the equipment that is needed most. It will always remain aid within the field of Education.
LIVELIHOOD
The Livelihood category includes aid programs that support families and communities in becoming self-sufficient, reducing their reliance on external assistance. This support involves providing farm animals, seedlings of legumes, vegetables, and trees, as well as farming tools and equipment needed by farmers, craftsmen, and small entrepreneurs. It also includes organizing training to help people start and gradually improve their trades and businesses.
HELP IN NEED
The Help in Need category focuses on humanitarian aid for victims of natural disasters and conflicts. This typically involves providing food, water, warm clothing, hygiene items, and shelter. Additionally, this category supports efforts to improve access to clean water for entire communities in countries affected by drought and low rainfall.
eDUCATION
The Education category encompasses aid programs designed to improve children’s access to quality education. This includes purchasing school supplies and textbooks, renovating and equipping schools, and training teachers to enhance their skills and ability to reach more students.
SlovAKIA
The Slovakia category helps children and adults from marginalized communities across the country. We provide tutoring, leisure activities, and create stimulating, safe spaces for children through our community centers. For adults, we offer career counseling, support in finding and maintaining employment. We also organize clubs and social activities that bring people from excluded communities together with the majority population, aiming to break down prejudice and foster understanding.
Within each of the four categories mentioned above, you will find A Great Man gift. By donating this gift, you will support the ongoing development of People in Peril. Your contribution allows us to continue providing professional, systematic, and long-term aid.
