A Real Gift Humanitarian package provides essential support for people in need, ensuring their basic needs are met during difficult situations such as natural disasters or armed conflicts. This aid typically includes hot meals, drinking water, hygiene supplies, warm clothing, medical supplies, or temporary shelter.
Our organization, People in Peril, always strives to assist quickly and effectively. When a warehouse exploded in Beirut, we distributed food aid, drinking water, diapers, and powdered milk for the youngest children. During a snowstorm in Lebanon, we provided warmth through blankets, tents, fuel for heaters, and powdered milk for children at risk of malnutrition and hypothermia. When a tornado struck Moravia, we contributed funds to help people rebuild their homes.
A Hot Meal for Refugees in Lebanon
Recently, our humanitarian efforts in Lebanon have focused on providing hot meals. The country is facing a severe economic crisis, further worsened by escalating conflict with Israel. Public services are paralyzed, and many people lack access to electricity, water, or healthcare. Thousands have had to leave their homes, seeking safety in overcrowded public shelters. Unfortunately, these shelters often lack basic necessities such as mattresses, blankets, heating, and kitchen utensils.
Thanks to donations from the Real Gift Humanitarian Package, we allocated €10,000 to purchase approximately 2,500 hot meals for vulnerable families living in shelters like schools and community centers in southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, the Lebanese mountains, and Akkar.
How is this assistance provided?
We collaborated with the humanitarian organization IHR to identify the most affected areas and shelters hosting large numbers of displaced persons. After contacting hygiene-compliant local kitchens supported by NGOs and not charging administrative fees, IHR selected a supporting kitchen. We coordinated logistics for daily meal preparation and delivery. A nutritious meal plan was designed, including rice, vegetables, chicken, and beef, with ingredients purchased from local suppliers. During food preparation, supervision ensured compliance with hygiene and nutrition standards. Meals were distributed at shelters and community centers, with support from local volunteers.
People in Peril provides aid where it is most needed. Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, we have supported those most affected. We also helped after the destruction of the Kakhovka dam, the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and recent floods in Slovakia.
