The conflict between Israel and Palestine has unleashed a wave of violence that has severely impacted countless innocent lives. Many people have been forced to leave their homes and seek refuge in collective centers and makeshift refugee camps, often without access to food or drinking water, as humanitarian aid has been restricted for months.
More than 60% of buildings in the Gaza Strip have been damaged or completely destroyed. The devastated infrastructure, including water systems, has been overwhelmed, and winter rains have contaminated the limited water supplies. The lack of sanitation facilities, medicines, and healthcare has led to a rapid spread of disease. In cooperation with our partner organization CESVI, we have been distributing drinking water to collective centers and camps since October of last year.
"We provide water to more than 2,000 people every other day. This water is their only source of safe drinking water," says a humanitarian worker from CESVI, describing the situation during water distribution in Gaza.
