Women’s Power Supports Women and Girls in Slovakia
Women living in extreme poverty and social exclusion often lack access to education. Many do not complete even primary school, making it harder for them to find work later. They marry and have children at a very young age, face prejudice daily, and become victims of violence. They suffer from low self-esteem and limited prospects for the future. People in Peril is working to change this.
In our regional Clubhouses, we create safe and respectful environments where women feel valued. We organize activities that help them realize their own worth and enable positive change—whether completing their education or finding employment. We also foster friendships where women can share their worries and joys, find support, and build solidarity.
We also help Ukrainian women who fled the war and have started their lives from scratch in Slovakia. We assist them in finding jobs, securing accommodation, and obtaining essential supplies. Through the Real Gift of Women’s Power, you can support and encourage women during difficult times.
Menstrual Pads Ensure Dignity and Hygiene
In many conservative countries, menstruation remains a taboo, which impacts the availability of menstrual products and women’s relationship with their bodies. Many girls do not understand what is happening when they get their first period. As a result, they often resort to using cotton wool, paper, or torn cloth because they cannot afford or find menstrual pads. During their period, many girls skip school, jeopardizing their education.
