During the summer break, we organize meaningful activities for children and teenagers at our Clubhouses and community centers—activities where they can not only have fun but also learn something new. For many of them, this is often their only opportunity to visit new places during the summer and experience something special, as their parents cannot afford a vacation or even a simple day trip.
For children from Sveržov, we organized a four-day summer camp with a driving school theme. Through games and activities, they learned about traffic rules and the basics of first aid. The final day was dedicated to the popular “KC’s Got Talent” competition, where children showcased their talents in singing, dancing, and poetry recitation.
Young people from the Košice Clubhouse headed out into nature, where they played badminton, enjoyed the fresh air, and took a break from their daily routines to spend time together outdoors. It wasn’t about who was the best or who won, but rather about encouraging one another, cooperating, learning, and creating shared memories. Of course, there was also a barbecue.
In Banská Bystrica, children explored emotions through experiential activities. They learned where they feel emotions in their bodies, what happens when emotions become overwhelming, and what can help them in difficult moments. Step by step, they discovered their own “helpers,” such as talking, movement, music, drawing, hugs, or simply taking time to rest. At the end of the activities, they created their own “safety boxes,” which they can use whenever they face difficult situations. The program also included plenty of physical activities and outdoor fun.
Children from the community center in Petrovany also enjoyed spending time together in a cheerful and friendly atmosphere during a group bowling trip.
