Children in Ukraine Received Backpacks Full of School Supplies

For children in Ukraine, the war has been extremely stressful. Many families have had to leave their homes with only what they could fit into a car, often moving from one temporary shelter to another in search of greater safety. This is especially true for families from eastern and northern Ukraine, as well as from regions near the Russian border.

These families are primarily mothers with young children who have to start completely from scratch in a new environment. Their incomes are often very low, making it extremely difficult to meet even their basic needs. That is why we decided to help by providing school supplies at the start of the school year.

Each donated package contained a school bag, notebooks, pens, crayons, a water bottle, coloring books, and a stress-relief toy—in short, items that help children not only learn but also feel like children again.

In the Poltava and Sumy regions, we supported 232 children in this way. Many of them had previously been studying only online at their original schools, far from their peers and friends. Now, in safer regions, they can finally return to their desks, meet new classmates, learn, and simply be children again. For them, this represents a significant step toward a more normal life.

In the photos, you can also see that we distributed the packages at a shelter in Kotelva, where we installed new ventilation, and at a shelter in Opishnia, which we fully equipped so that children can continue studying there even during air raid alerts.

As a final thoughtful touch, we also gave the children medals made by Slovak children at the Pohoda Festival, as a token of encouragement and solidarity. As you can see, the joy was truly immense. 😊
